Here are the results from yesterday’s Mobilise Moments poll.

Wellbeing linked to cared-for

Yesterday we asked: To what extent does the wellbeing of the person/s you care for impact upon your own wellbeing?

96% of us say that there is close link or an intrinsic link between the wellbeing of the person/s we look after and our own wellbeing. Ultimately if they are doing well - we're more likely to be doing well too.

The impact of caring on our lives is clearly significant. Previous polls have shown the impact on finances, work and housing. And whilst these are not insignificant, they are magnified by the emotional aspect of providing care to a partner, family-member, friend or neighbour.

The act of taking responsibility for aspects of someone else's life is significant alone.

The team at Crossroads Care Surrey have written this fantastic piece on the impact of care and how to establish some sensible boundaries for your caring role. Do take a read - we're sure that you will recognise some of the situations they discuss.
