Here are the results from yesterday’s Mobilise Moments poll.
Yesterday we asked: It is likely that the government will introduce legislation that allows unpaid carers to take an additional week of unpaid leave from their jobs. Would this be good news for you?
In MM #28, we discovered that 56% of our community (at that time) weren't working. So it's no surprise to see that this change by Government will affect a smaller proportion of the community. The proportion of us who are not currently working has risen slightly, but if we exclude them from the statistics for this question what we see is that 62% of those working feel that this change will help balance their employment and working. Of course, if you are self employed this legislation won't make any difference at all.
This new legislation is in addition to our existing rights. Which! has produced a really good guide to carers' employment rights. It covers flexible working, time off for emergencies and extended periods of time off work.
Carers UK also have a factsheet on employment rights too.
