Join other carers for a virtual Cuppa

We are a bunch of unpaid carers coming together for regular, free supportive chats. If you are looking after someone, we're here to listen, laugh and sometimes let off steam!

We’re funded by local government to support unpaid carers and we find the best way to do this is through conversation. So we developed our regular online cuppas! Hosted by our amazing Carer Coaches Suzanne and Claire, we offer free regular video meetings most weekdays, bringing together carers, wherever you are.

I thoroughly look forward to these sessions, I feel no matter what I say to you you don't judge me, you don't criticise me and we have such a laugh...

It's natural that you might have some questions before you jump in! Read on to find out more. Or if you are ready you can sign-up straightaway.

When are the online cuppas?

We hold online cuppas most weekdays - take a look at our sample schedule.

You can join as many of them as you like. There is no limit and we hope it becomes part of your routine.

What happens on a cuppa?

The format is really simple, just like a video call with friends or family. Small groups of around 10 come together for a conversation about how it's going. Cuppas are a safe, non-judgemental space for you to talk about the things that are important to you. Cuppas have different themes and you can choose what sessions take your fancy - here’s a sample schedule to give you a flavour.

As well as the 'live' conversation on the screen, hosted by Carers Coaches Suzanne and Claire, you can also discuss what's going on using our 'chat' function.

Normally we talk about things like:

What challenges are other people facing?

How are people adapting, and finding ways to cope?

What practical steps can we take to help each other?

These cuppas have been a real life line for me.

How do I join?

If you’ve previously attended we email you weekly with the details of the next cuppas.

If you’ve not been on a cuppa before just click here to sign up for your first cuppa.  You'll then get an email from Suzanne which will include the link to the cuppa you signed up for (you can sign up for more than one too!)

What equipment do I need to join?

We use zoom for our video calls. You may have used it with friends or family before. All that is required is a smartphone, tablet, laptop or computer with:

  • Speakers

  • A microphone

  • A camera (ideally)

Once you have registered, we’ll email you a link that takes you straight to the video call, so you can join us.

Our cuppas are great - but don’t take our word for it!

We’ve been featured on the BBC and Sky News but best of all is the feedback we get from unpaid carers that attend.

"People were honest about how things were for them without it feeling panicky. I came away with the motivation to take action on a couple of things. Plus a lovely bunch of people." it for a child, Mum, Dad, Husband, Wife, Brother, Sister - at home, in a care home - round the corner!! Everyone has something to share to help each other.
